ABOUT THE SHOW

Nick aspired to be a lot of things — a supermodel, gigolo, actor — anything but what he really was. Unsavory Fellow, a true story, follows the path of most resistance— taken by clown and Hollywood dreamer, Nick James. Pulled in by the allure of the big screen, in the grips of drugs and alcohol, Nick takes us down the rabbit hole of his delusional yet hilarious quest to be a star.

Nick James charges life. It's the only way he knows how to live. A Californian by way of Cleveland, Nick maneuvers through the world like a sunkissed Tom Joad, leaving each person and project he tackles forever changed by his singular wit and wisdom. Nick, aka "NickyNik", was a trailblazer in the once untapped universe of YouTube in the early aughts. He became the 3rd most subscribed comedian on the platform garnering millions of views while performing regularly at The Comedy Store.

His early films have won awards and screened at Film Festivals around the world. His limitless curiosity and fearless approach towards his craft molded him into a raconteur of the purist variety... One with nothing to lose. Nick has been a valet parker, boxcar hobo, bartender, professional break dancer and even celebrated a stint as a Japanese Supermodel. All this to make his work uncompromisingly visceral. Drifting through the sunlight and examining the human spirit, Nick crafted his tales as only a true writer can, by living them. Nick lives with his wife and son in Santa Monica embodying a postcard version of the California dream.
